Every year the Messer Magazin (German Knife Magazine) awards a "Knife of the Year" in the following categories: fixed knife, pruning knife and kitchen knife. There is no jury to decide on whether a knife is successful or not; instead the readers of the Messer Magazin choose their favourite from all three categories. There was a choice of 14 knives from well-known manufacturers from all over the world in the kitchen knife category. The Santoku from the new Red Spirit series from Friedr. Dick won through with the readers and was awarded third place.
The knives of the series Red Spirit are designed for uncompromising sharpness. The blades are grinded extremely slim and the cutting edge is polished. The knives are easy to guide and lead to a stunning exact cut. The material to be cut will neither be crushed nor broken so that flavorings will be preserved.
The round shaped, Asian-style handle of the knife lies perfectly in the hand while fulfilling all ergonomic requests of professionals as well as ambitious amateur chefs – a very important advantage for intensive usage.
Friedr. Dick was also successful last year: the Santoku from the 1778 Jubilee series was also ranked among the top 3.
